Workshops & Classes
SE Emerge offers a wide variety of classes and workshops designed to support learning, independence, and community connection. Our full‑time program serves adults 22 and older, while all individual classes and workshops are open to anyone 18 and over on a day‑to‑day basis with no full‑time enrollment required. Each day follows a structured schedule, and each month introduces specific themes and vocabulary to create a familiar, consistent, and well‑rounded experience for members and families.
Tuesday
Movement & Mobility
Workshop
SE Emerge’s Tuesday Movement & Mobility Workshop offers a full day of connection, physical wellness, and guided skill‑building. The morning begins with action planned individualized goal work and social check-in, giving members space to share with each other about their weekends, share experiences, and strengthen peer relationships. Afterward, the group heads to In‑Shape for a structured fitness block and mindfulness practice. Members warm up together on cardio machines before participating in a 60‑minute group mobility class offered by the gym. This class supports flexibility, balance, strength, and overall body awareness while encouraging members to stay active in a supportive, community‑based environment.
Following lunch, the afternoon shifts into life skills training using SE Emerge’s Community‑Based Instructional handouts. These guided activities promote members to think, reflect, communicate, and problem‑solve together. Each handout introduces a new challenge or discussion point, helping members build confidence, practice social skills, and strengthen their ability to stay present and mindful. The combination of movement, community connection, and structured learning makes Tuesdays a well‑rounded and empowering part of the SE Emerge weekly schedule.
Wednesday
Fitness & Adult Living Class
SE Emerge’s Fitness and Adult Living class blends movement, choice, and real‑world skill‑building to support a healthy, confident adult life. The morning begins with a individualized and/or group lessons tied to the monthly theme and vocabulary focus, promoting adaptive skills education and training, build communication skills, and connect with one another as they learn and experience together. After themed lessons, members shift into fitness and choose their preferred exercise groups for the day—yoga, weight training, or Zumba—each offered at In‑Shape. Before joining their selected class, everyone completes a warm‑up on the cardio machines followed by guided stretching. Members then participate in their chosen 60‑minute group class, supporting strength, flexibility, coordination, and personal wellness through movement they enjoy.
After lunch, the focus shifts to Adult Living skills through SE Emerge’s Community‑Based Instruction curriculum. Members work through structured activities designed to strengthen independence, problem‑solving, communication, and everyday life skills. These sessions help members navigate real‑world expectations with confidence, offering guided practice in areas such as organization, self‑advocacy, community awareness, and personal responsibility. Together, the fitness and adult living components create a balanced, empowering day that supports both physical well‑being and practical life readiness.
Thursday
Cooking & Crafting Class
SE Emerge’s Cooking and Crafting class blends practical kitchen skills with creative expression in a supportive, hands‑on environment. Each session begins with an introduction to cooking using simple, accessible instructional sheets created by Andrea and Megan. Members review kitchen safety at the start of every class to ensure they understand how to properly handle equipment and move safely in a shared cooking space. Each lesson includes preparing a realistic meal, snack, or dessert that complements the member’s own home‑packed lunch, giving them the chance to practice real‑life cooking skills while enjoying something they helped create.
After lunch, the class shifts into a relaxed, creative crafting session. Members work in a group setting but at their own pace, exploring different materials and projects that encourage imagination, fine‑motor skills, and self‑expression. Each activity includes guided instruction on proper cleanup, and members work together to tidy their space as a group. The combination of structured cooking practice and open‑ended crafting makes this class both skill‑building and enjoyable, offering members a balanced day of learning, creativity, and teamwork.
Friday
Social Living Workshop
SE Emerge’s Friday Social Workshop is all about connection, community, and shared experiences. Each Friday, members come together to practice their executive functioning skills as they plan their social activities. Members enjoy a day of socializing in a relaxed, enjoyable setting. Activities vary week to week and promote new experiences. Activities may include eating lunch out as a group, barbecuing together, exploring new areas or playing group games at a local park. These experiences give members the chance to practice social skills, build friendships, and enjoy time together in the community.
Each month, a schedule of Friday events is shared with members who are interested in participating. This allows individuals and families to plan ahead and choose the social outings that best fit their interests. The Friday Social Workshop creates a fun, welcoming end to the week and supports members in building confidence, independence, and meaningful social connections.
